Accomplishments During My First Term
- Decreased the mill rate EACH YEAR while continuing to provide students with necessary resources.
- Non-referendum debt will be completely retired in Spring 2024. The $500,000 spent annually on debt service can now be redirected to student learning where it matters most.
- Prioritized funding for safety enhancements throughout the district – additional School Resource Officer, additional security cameras and secure doors/entrances.
- Prioritized funding for additional teachers at the elementary schools to decrease class size.
- Supported initiatives to attract and retain staff – competitive salary increases for staff, contributions to HSA accounts, introduction of NICE (concierge service).
- Hired David Muñoz as permanent superintendent, who has been highly successful and effective in his short time in his position.
- Creation of Fund 46 (Long-Term Capital Improvement Trust Fund) which provides a fiscally responsible mechanism to fund the district’s capital project needs
